These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of cursivereader.org (the "Service"). Please read them carefully.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using cursivereader.org, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of the Service

Cursive Reader provides tools to convert cursive handwriting into editable text. You may upload images or documents that contain cursive writing, and the Service will attempt to recognize the handwriting and generate text output.

Output formats may include plain text or other formats presented within the Service. Certain features (such as retention of uploaded content, history, or batch processing) may be available only to upgraded users, if offered.

3. User Responsibilities

You agree that:

  • You own or have the necessary rights and permissions to upload and process the content you submit.
  • You will not upload unlawful, harmful, abusive, or infringing content, or content that violates any applicable law or third-party rights.
  • You will not misuse the Service, attempt to gain unauthorized access, or interfere with the Service’s operation or security.

4. Usage Limits

Free usage limits (such as file size limits, upload limits, or processing limits) may apply and may change over time.

If upgraded plans are offered, upgraded users may receive higher or different limits according to their plan.

5. Billing and Payment

We offer recurring monthly and yearly subscription plans and one-time credit purchases. Current prices, included credits, billing periods, and other plan details are shown on our Pricing page and at checkout.

By purchasing a subscription, you authorize the applicable subscription fee to be charged automatically at the start of each billing period until you cancel. Each credit pack is a separate, one-time purchase and does not renew automatically. Any applicable taxes will be shown at checkout.

6. Cancellation and Refund Policy

6.1 Subscription Cancellation

You may cancel a subscription at any time in Account Settings or by emailing us at hello@cursivereader.org from your registered email address. Your subscription remains active until the end of the current paid billing period, and you will not be charged for later periods.

6.2 Refund Eligibility

  • First-time subscriptions: You may request a full refund within 7 days of the initial subscription charge if none of the subscription credits have been used.
  • Credit packs: You may request a full refund within 7 days of the purchase if none of the credits from that purchase have been used.
  • Duplicate charges or confirmed billing errors are eligible for a full refund.
  • If a Service outage within our control lasts at least 72 consecutive hours, affected customers may request a proportional refund or service credit.
  • Any refund or withdrawal rights required by applicable law remain unaffected.

6.3 Non-Refundable Payments

Except for the circumstances above, subscription fees for billing periods that have begun and purchases containing credits that have been used are non-refundable because the Service and digital credits are made available immediately. Renewal charges are also non-refundable unless required by law or caused by a billing error.

6.4 How to Request a Refund

Email hello@cursivereader.org with your account email address, transaction or order ID, purchase date, and reason for the request. We will acknowledge your request within 2 business days. Approved refunds are submitted to the original payment method within 5–10 business days; your bank or payment provider may need additional time to post the funds.

7. Data Storage for Upgraded Users

If the Service offers storage features, upgraded users may have access to stored uploads and processed results for their own use.

  • Stored content is accessible only to the corresponding user.
  • Users may delete stored content at any time (if the feature is available).
  • Retention periods and availability of stored content may change.

8. No Guarantee of Accuracy

Handwriting recognition results may vary depending on image quality, handwriting style, clarity, language, and other factors. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of any output generated by the Service. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying the results before using them.

9. Intellectual Property

The Service, website content, and related materials are owned by Cursive Reader (cursivereader.org) or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, redistribute, or create derivative works from the Service content without permission.

You retain all rights to the content you upload. You grant us a limited license to process your uploaded content solely to provide the Service to you.

10. Disclaimer

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee uninterrupted, secure, or error-free operation, or that outputs will be free from errors.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, cursivereader.org shall not be liable for any damages arising from or related to your use of the Service, including data loss, recognition errors, or inability to access the Service.

12. Term, Suspension, and Termination

These Terms remain effective while you use the Service. If you violate these Terms, misuse the Service, infringe another person's rights, engage in suspected fraud, create a security or legal risk, or fail to pay amounts due, we may remove affected content, restrict features, suspend your account, or terminate your account and access to the Service.

Where reasonably practicable, we will notify you of the issue and give you an opportunity to correct it. We may act immediately for serious or repeated violations, fraud, security threats, legal requirements, or risks of harm. If we terminate a paid Service for reasons other than your breach, fraud, or a legal requirement, we will provide a proportional refund for the unused prepaid period. Refunds are otherwise governed by Section 6.

You may stop using the Service at any time. To request account deletion, contact us at hello@cursivereader.org. Termination does not remove obligations or provisions that by their nature should survive termination, including payment obligations, intellectual property provisions, disclaimers, and limitations of liability.

13. Changes to the Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
